Abstract:
The overall goal of the Patient Education Project is to foster leadership development among Clinica Romero's client/patient population and to engage these individuals in the governance of the organization through a three-pronged approach that includes:
- Providing training and education to clients on board membership opportunities, board member expectations and obligations, allowing for enhanced participation and involvement of clients in organizational policy and programs.
- Providing training and education to current Board of Directors on how to successfully utilize the resources offered by client board members, so that effective communication and collaboration exists among all board members.
- Providing translation services and equipment, so that board members who are limited-English speakers may effectively participate in the governance of the organization.
Clinica Romero will develop a training curriculum for prospective board members/clients and current board members and will offer translation services to those board members who require it.
