Abstract:
The goal of the proposed partnership between Jenesse Center, Inc. and UCLA is to provide a service model and evaluation manual that will address domestic violence while strengthening children, youth, and families in the Los Angeles community. Jenesse Center, Inc., a domestic violence intervention and shelter provider with twenty-four years of service experience in the South Los Angeles community, proposes to partner with Dr. Deborah Glik, ScD and UCLA's Health and Media Research Group. This partnership will address the crucial issue of family violence and will provide a service model and evaluation manual that will strengthen children, youth and families in the Los Angeles community. The Los Angeles community will strengthen in two fundamental ways: by improving the client/staff interactions at the Center and establishing a quality of care component in Jenesse's data collection processes; and by providing a benchmark an professional mental health model and manual for other community based organizations to develop a clinical process with professional standards. The partnership will enhance and systematize Jenesse's professionally staffed mental health program model for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, are homeless and have acute multiple diagnosis.
